3. Setting The setting of this story is Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones’ apartment.

4. Plot A boy tries to steal a woman’s purse, but the woman stops him. She takes him to her apartment and feeds him, cleans him, and sets him straight.

5. Mood This story, in my opinion,put me in a humorous mood.

6. Character Traits (main) Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones’ character trait was bold. Roger’s character trait was trustworthiness.

7. Conflict The conflict is when Roger tries to steal Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones’ purse in the beginning.

8. Langston Hughes Langston Hughes was born in Joplin, Missouri on February 1,1902.

9. His Other Stories He wrote “The Negro Speaks of Rivers” (poem), “The Weary Blues”(book of poems), and “The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain”(essay).

10. Writing Style In his poetry he used African –American rhythm, particularly blues and jazz.

11. Facts He graduated from Lincoln University as well as Columbia University. He graduated with a future supreme court judge, Thurgood Marshall. When he died he was cremated.
