15. Why we fight for Median Line between Timor-Leste and Australia? Two fundamental reasons: – As an independent nation, Timor-Leste has the right to boundaries at the land and on sea. Timor-Leste and Australia has not settle its maritime boundary yet. – Timor-Leste and Australia geologically located at one continent. Therefore, the maritime boundary cannot be determined according to the Continental Shelf but has to be according to the UN Convention on the on the law of the sea (UNCLOS).
