5.  Before 1990, more than 10,000 people were killed on the job annually in the US.  Approximately another 30,000 die each year in home accidents. It’s a fact!

6.  Each year, over 3,000 job-related deaths are caused by falls – many are the result of poor housekeeping!  Falls can result from tripping over tools left in the aisles or work areas.  Wet floors or trash in stairways can also cause slips and falls.

7. Wet spots on floors as a result of snow or rain should be cleaned up as soon as possible. Don’t let this happen to you!

8. Try to resist the temptation to be a basketball player when it comes to putting trash in the trash can. Make sure your trash actually gets in the can and not on the floor.

9. Warning: If broken glass is on the floor, don’t try picking it up with your bare hands. Same goes for other sharp objects, such as nails. Wear gloves or sweep it up.

10. Keep your tools off the floor and stored in the proper places. Isn’t it easier to do your job when your work area is neat? This can reduce tripping hazards and protects your tools and equipment.
