2 What is a Rain Forest? A rain forest is a piece of land around the equator that is hot and rainy. Half of all the animals in the world live in the rain forest. A rain forest is a piece of land around the equator that is hot and rainy. Half of all the animals in the world live in the rain forest.

3 Location of Rain Forests Some rain forest are located in South America, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Hawaii. The biggest rain forest is in South America. It’s called the Amazon.

4 Emergent Layer The Emergent Layer is the top rain forest layer. Butterfly, Harpy eagle, sloth, parrot, monkey, and pygmy glider live in the Emergent Layer.

5 Canopy Layer The canopy layer is the second layer from the top in the rain forest. The canopy layer has many interesting animals such as butterflies,iguanas, and lizards. 6 Understory Layer The Understory is the third layer of the layers. The Understory has many animals. There are butterfly, macaws, jaguars, geckos, parrots, tree porcupines, and snakes.

7 Forest Floor The Forest Floor is the bottom of the rain forest. Spiders, grasshoppers, ants, tarantulas, and geckos live on the forest floor.

8 Deforestation There are many reasons why we are losing rain forests. One reason is that we are moving into the rain forest habitat. Second reason is that we are mining in rain forest territory. Third reason is that we are logging to make floors, furniture, paper, and houses. The forth reason is cattle grazing because they can be sold for beef and leather products.

9 PEOPLE OF THE RAIN FOREST People in the rain forest plant their food in gardens. They grow berries, corn, and rice. People in the rain forest plant their food in gardens. They grow berries, corn, and rice.

10 MONKEYS Monkeys are mammals that are good climbers They eat bananas, mangos, berries, coco beans, fleas, kiwi, star fruit, apple, pear, melon, peach, plum, raspberry, strawberry, plum, cherry, pomegranate, and guava.

11 SNAKES SNAKES Snakes eat a lot of things like rats, mice, squirrels, and rabbits. There are many types of snakes like, Adder, Boa constrictor, Blood python, Blue Malaysian coral snake, Boom slang, and Emerald tree boa. 12 Conclusion We should stop cutting down their trees and moving in to their territory.
