The adjective Adjectives describe nouns and gives us information by about its form, colour, size, etc. Example of adjectives are: Big, old, tired, In English adjectives only have a singular form. Check the table below for examples La casa nueva Las casas nuevas El coche nuevo Los coches nuevos The new house The new houses The new car The new cars Animals across the curriculo_ Grammar

3 The adjective: position
Most adjectives can occur before or after a noun. the blue sea ~ the sea is blue the old man~ the man is old happy children~ the children are happy Predicative adjectives Do not occur immediately after the noun. Instead, they follow a verb.   Example: “ The children are happy” Attributive adjectives precede their nouns in simple phrases. 4 Comparative Adjectives
We can use comparative adjectives to describe the differences. We compare two things, we compare A with B. Look at the example: A1 is bigger than A2. "bigger" is the comparative form of the adjective "big" A1  A2 Animals across the curriculo_ Grammar

5 Formation of comparatives
There are two ways to make or form a comparative adjective: Short adjectives: add –er to the adjective Long adjectives: use “more” + the adjective Examples: short adjectives- one or two syllables: nice, big, nicer, bigger Long adjectives- three or more syllables: intelligent, difficult more intelligent, more difficult Animals across the curriculo_ Grammar

Particle ‘THAN’ We use the particle ‘than’ when comparing two adjectives. Study the examples: A is nicer than B A is more intelligent than B Animals across the curriculo_ Grammar

7 Adjectives superlatives
We use superlatives in order to compare three or more things. Form: Short adjectives: add –est to the adjective Long adjectives: use “most” + the adjective Examples: short adjectives- one or two syllables: nice, big, nicest, biggest Three or more syllabes: intelligent, difficult most intelligent, most difficult Animals across the curriculo_ Grammar
