8. Objectives After we Stuied this Lesson use will be alble to- * Learnt Degrees of Comparison are. Learnt three kinds of degrees. Learn the rules of Forming comparatives and superlatives. * been able to learn forming superlative structures with comparison. Learning Outcomes.

9. * Most adjectives of quality, much and little (quantity) and many few (number) have degrees of comparisons. ( Adjective এর তুলনা করাকে বা ব্যবহার কে Degree বলে ) Let’s know what Degrees of Comparison are.

10. Examples. Siam is a small boy. Siam is smaller than Maruf Siam is the smallest boy in the house. Saikat is taller than any other house..

11. Flow the three degrees below. There are three kinds of degrees Positive degree Comparative degree. Superlative degree

12. Positive degree.. An adjective expresses the quality only one Noun. ( এটি সাধারন ভাবে কোন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর দোষ – গুনের অবস্তা বা মাত্রা বুঝায় ) Saikat is tall. No other boy in the class is as tall as Saikat.

13. Comparative degree. A djective দ্বারা যখন দুই বা দুই ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর মধ্যে কোন গুন / দোষের তুলনা করা হয় তখন তাকে Comparative Degree বলে। Maruf is taller than Siam.

14. Superlative degree. Adjective কে যখন দুই এর অধিক ব্যক্তি বা বস্তর মধ্যে তুলনা করা হয় তখন তাকে Superlative degree বলে। Rokeya is the best girl in the class,

15. Let’s know how to formation of Comparatives and Superlatives. Adjective take- er to form their comparative s and est. /st to form their Superlative degree.( কতগুলো শব্দ আছে er+ করলে comparative এবং st+ করলে Superlative হয় Positive Comparative Superlative. Tall taller tallest Small smaller smallest Great greater greatest

16. Adjective এর শেষে e থাকলে শুধু r + যোগ করে Comparative এবং st + করে Superlative হয় । Positive -----------Comparative---------- Superlative Fine finer finest wise wiser wisest wide wider widest He is wiser than any other man in the village. He is the wisest man in the village.

17. If a one Syllable adjective ends in a Vowel + consonant the consonant becomes double when er/est. is added.( একটি মাত্র vowel থাকলে দ্বিত হয় ) Positive -------------- -Comparative-----------------------Superlative Big bigger biggest Thin thinner thinnest Fat fatter fattest Dhaka is the bigger than any other city in Bangladesh. Dhaka is the biggest city in Bangladesh.

18. যে সকল Adjective- একধিক syllable থাকে একবারে উচ্চারিত হয়না তাদের উতকর্ষতা বুঝালে More, Most এবং নিকৃস্টতা বুঝালে Less, Lest+ করে যথাক্রমে Comparative and Superlative করা হয় । Positive--------------------Comparative.--------------Superlative Beautiful. More beautiful most beautiful Intelligent more intelligent/less most intelligent lest Useful more useful/less useful most useful/less useful Fatima is as beautiful as Khadija. Khadija is not more beautiful than Fatima.

19. Some Exceptions of formation. Positive--------Comparative------------- Superlative. Bad worse worst. Good better best. Many more most. Much more most Sakib Al Hasan is the best cricketer in the world Rokeya is the best girl in the class No other girl is as good in the class as Rokeya. Rokeya is better than any other girl in the class. Class Eight.
