Purpose ▫ Provide the BOD with recommendations that both identify and satisfy the needs of graduate student members Tasks ▫ Identify types/groups of graduate students & their needs ▫ Analysis of recommendations from previous studies ▫ Providing recommendations as detailed in Deliverables FY12 Deliverables ▫ Recommend programs and services that should be offered for graduate student members at annual and region conferences and throughout the fiscal year FY13 Deliverables ▫ Recommend organization and structure of graduate student members and/or groups within SWE ▫ Recommendation on graduate student leadership positions within SWE ▫ Recommended communications and branding targeted directly for engaging graduate students within SWE Tasks and Deliverables 6/22/12Graduate Student Task Force FY12 BOD4 Report

CIC White Paper and Top 5 Recommendations ▫ “Graduate Students” were #3 in Top 5 Recommendations ▫ Incorporated and expanded upon WIA Review & Recommendations Task Force Report ▫ Incorporated to complement Academic-related programs and services 2011 Collegiate Survey Results ▫ 17.6% identified as graduate students ▫ What areas does SWE have a shortage of professional development activities in? Collegiate SectionsProfessional Sections Graduate leaders and activities in collegiate sections ▫ Organize graduate student- specific seminars, meetings, and socials ▫ Encourage and advertise formation of these “Graduate Groups” Resources for sharing of best practices for grad involvement – already underway! ▫ “Graduate Student Involvement in SWE Collegiate Sections” session at WE Conference (every year since WE09) FY13 Webinar ▫ Focus articles on the Graduate Student Blog Inclusion of graduate members who more closely identify with professionals ▫ Building awareness to create a welcoming environment Grad students should retain the choice of identifying with either collegiate or professional section, based on desired experience Section Level 6/22/12Graduate Student Task Force FY12 BOD4 Report

Graduate leaders should have open communication with Region Collegiate Teams ▫ Via calls/introductions with the Collegiate Director and/or RCR/RCCE Coordinator – participated in calls with CD in FY12 Regional Conferences ▫ At least one graduate programming session ▫ Identification of graduate members on name tags ▫ Career Fair Exhibitors should identify needs for and recruit graduate students ▫ Improved advertising of graduate offerings to encourage attendance Region Level 6/22/12Graduate Student Task Force FY12 BOD4 Report
