Grammatical Errors What to avoid in your writing…

Be careful not to: 1)Misspell common words: a.him, let, school, argue, believe 2)Confuse homophones a) There, their, they’re b) To, too, two c) Your, you’re

Capitalization and Punctuation Don’t end sentences without end marks Don’t start a sentence with a lower case letter Don’t forget to always capitalize proper nouns

Brainstorm You CANNOT write a passing argumentative paper without pre-writing You MUST brainstorm all your ideas out first before writing List your 3 reasons on your notebook paper Under each reason jot down details and ideas

Write, Stop, Reread, Revise Write all your ideas out first Stop at the end of each paragraph- READ read what you wrote Proofread and revise it Check to make sure it makes sense

At the end… Go back and check to see if you have THREE strong reasons stated If problem/solution- Check to make sure that you have clearly explained the problem and written a paragraph with a clear solution Make sure all your arguments make sense
