To Do Lists This Week's To Do List: Review the Advisor's Sketches about how they "Got Their Leadership On". Review the Organization Profiles. Make notes of any questions you might have about each organization. If you have questions, Email them to one of the advisors in order to get clarification about the mission and goals of the group. Review the expectations powerpoint. Take note of expectations that you think may be unreasonable or you think should be "givens". Take the Quizes on "Expectations", "The ClubHouse", and "the Q Center". Create an initial post by August 18th in the "How the Heck Did I Get Here" discussion forum. Make at least 4 responses to your fellow student leaders in the "How the Heck" discussion forum by Monday, August 22nd. ASPCC staff who have not been trained with Loretta on the Student Help Desk procedures, phone etiquette, door codes, etc... need to make an hour appointment with her between now and August 31st. Loretta also handles processing personnel paperwork for payroll purposes. If you are not on the payroll, you also need to contact her. If you plan to use the tuition waiver option, contact Mandy.

Learning Outcomes When you complete this module, you should be able to: Understand that there are many places and ways that leadership germinates and grows. Articulate what each organization's - ASPCC, the Q Center, The Women's Resource Center, the Multicultural Center, the Clubhouse, and the Veterans Resource Center - mission is and know a little bit about their culture and values. Know some important details about your peers and how they envision their role as a student leader. Understand some of the expectations the advisors have for the student leadership team at PCC Rock Creek. ASPCC staff will understand Student Help Desk and Office Procedures in addition to completing their payroll paperwork.
8
Discussions Directions: After reading the advisor's sketches and reviewing the material in the "Expectations" and "Organization Profiles" section, write a post describing a situation where you discovered YOUR leadership potential. Incorporate how that experience informed the expectations you have for the role you will play this year as a Rock Creek student leader. Be sure to incorporate your reactions to the material covered in the "expectations" file and the "organizations profile" too. Write an initial post by Thursday, August 18th and respond to at least four others in the group by Monday, August 22nd. Initial Post: My name is Eric Ruiz, and how I got here is a good question. Before I wasn't very social and confident, I was quite bashful and shy. However, that all changed once I entered PCC. I got to PCC through a program called CAMP, which was an amazing program. In CAMP is where a certain Teresa Alonso put be as leader for making a Day of the Dead altar for Harvest Fest 2010. It was the first time I was a leader in college, I got chills! I was a bit nervous at first, but I did my best to keep my cool and communicate with the team I assembled to help me with the altar. Cooperating with the team is key! And keeping a good mood and atmosphere is a great thing to have as a leader as well. This made working with my team very enjoyable, and we made a great altar! As a team leader I learned that I must have patience with my team, keep my cool, and have faith in them. I always do my best to keep this in mind when I have a team to lead, for what is a leader without his team?

Focus Group Held during our Winter Leadership Retreat Performed a SWOT analysis of training – What did you like best about the online training? – What was missing from the online training? – What opportunities do you think would enhance the training? – What do you think could be improved in the training?
16
Results – What did you like best about the online training? “Chance to open up without awkwardness” “To really get to know people past face value” “Loved how I could get online whenever I wanted” “Getting to know your advisors” – What was missing from the online training? “My computer broke down, and I didn’t know what to do so I freaked out” “I know we met during the online training workshop on campus, but maybe more time to get to know people at that workshop” “More resources where people can get online”
17
– What opportunities do you think would enhance the training? “Loved the training, maybe make sure the ASPCC office is open a set number of times to come in and get online.” “Have the advisors continue to post, because I personally really found it helpful and encouraging.” – What do you think could be improved in the training? “I’m more of a face to face learner, so that kind of training stressed me out” “It felt like a lot of information was given to us at once. On the other hand, it did help that I could learn it whenever I want.”
