2.2 Equivalent Ratios Mme DiMarco
2
Learning Goal: How to write equivalent ratios Learning Goal
3
A ratio of 4:3 means that for every 4 triangles, there are 3 squares A ratio of 8:6 means that for every 8 triangles there are 6 squares The ratios 4:3 and 8:6 are equivalent ratios Connect
4
Equivalent Ratios: ratios that express the same relationship but use different values. Example: 4:3 is the same as 8:6 An equivalent ratio can be formed by multiplying or dividing the terms of a ratio by the same number. Equivalent Ratios

Find 5 equivalent ratios for 3:4 Challenge
6
Find 5 equivalent ratios for 3:4 6:8 9:12 12:16 15:20 18:24 Answer
7
A ratio is in its simplest form, when its terms have no common factors (when we can no longer reduce the terms by dividing by a common factor) Example: 1:2 is the simplest form of 10:20 Simplest Form
8
To find the simplest form 1.Find the GCF of both terms in the ratio 2.Divide both terms of the ratio by the GCF Example: write 24:16 in simplest form 1.GCF of 24 and 16: 8 2.24 ÷ 8 : 16 ÷ 8 = 3 : 2 Finding the Simplest Form
