The Arctic Monkeys By Archie mackintosh

Favourite worst nightmare is the second album that the arctic monkeys released. This was probably their second best album. Their first album showed that they could write excellent songs and perform them well this meant that what the arctic monkeys needed to do in their second album was show that they could develop their own musical style, and I think that they have done that perfectly. Some of the songs are a little bit slower and have a dark and enticing mood than the first album, like ‘the only ones who know’ and ‘505’. In my opinion the best song in this album is without any doubt, fluorescent adolescent. This song probably makes favourite worst nightmare a better album because it just ‘completes’ the feel and tone that the album is trying to deliver. The front cover of this album features a dark house in Sheffield that has bright cartoony paintings in the windows and the album name. The picture on the cd is a drawing of a persons head with the top half of the head on fire in black flames

Humbug is the third album that the arctic monkeys released in 2009. I think this is the worst album that the arctic monkeys have done so far. In humbug the arctic monkeys decided to give the album a darker feel as well as making the recording sound rough. The songs aren’t as melodic and well constructed as their previous albums and I don’t think as much effort was put into writing the music. This could have been because the band got to used to being so famous that they thought they could lay back a bit and it wouldn’t make a difference. Aside all of that, they did produce one brilliant song, that quickly became the most popular out of the whole album, called ‘crying lightning’. Before humbug the arctic monkeys released an ep album named ‘crying lightning’ featuring the songs crying lightning, red right hand and I haven’t got my strange. The album cover features a picture of the band in an elevator and the band name
