Background Capacity Management System (CMS) project jointly launched by RTE and NGIL in Autumn 2007 Main objectives: –Ensure compliance of IFA with CM Guidelines –Ensure potential harmonisation with other European borders Go-live of IFA Access Rules 7.0 and CMS on 1 st October 2009

CMS Project The CMS project has been the ideal opportunity to refresh many IFA processes (both internal and external facing). This complex project therefore had a large impact on –IFA Access Rules –Operational procedures for IFA commercial management –IFA IT systems Procurement of a joint system (CM System) for: allocation, nomination, secondary trading, settlement Considerable evolutions of RTE/NG own IT systems: interfacing, invoicing, credit management Joint CM System to be the sole commercial interface for Users for all IFA activity.

CMS User feedback Brief web based survey conducted three weeks after operation 12 User responses Testing -Users welcomed access to real environment -Intense cutover period; timing of go-live, documentation -Users adopting enhanced system interface experienced issues in September during testing Unicorn helpdesk -Users appreciate 24/7 direct, live support and quick responses

Positive User feedback One platform for capacity bidding, resale and nominating on IFA is a clear benefit and has allowed us to make our processes for decision making more efficient. CMS features rated on average either Acceptable or Good Single point of nomination Price accuracy on bidding Recycling of capacity Hourly auctions

What improvements would Users like to see? Excel uploads/downloads; Copy & Paste facility Site navigation and user interface improvements Improved communication from helpdesk operators Developments under assessment Extension of webservices interface Copy and Paste facility Introduction of block products
