Sub-Bottom Collection in SURVEY
Sub-bottom collection and processing is a standard feature of HYPACK®. Sub-Bottom records are recorded to SEG-Y format. 2

Analog Settings - Triggers
External Trigger: The Sub-Bottom system is being triggered by another means and HYPACK just ‘listens’ for the returns. Internal Solo: HYPACK provides a trigger to the Sub-Bottom system via the NI USB-6211 A-to-D box. The user can control the Trigger Interval from the Analog Settings box. Internal – Multiple of Sidescan: To avoid interference, the Sub-Bottom system pings at an interval of the sidescan system. A ‘Trigger Multiple’ of ‘4’, means that for every 4 times the sidescan pings, the sub-bottom system will ping once. Sample Period: How long the Sub-Bottom driver listens for returns. Sample Delay: How long the Sub-Bottom driver waits after the ping before starting to listen. 5
6
Analog Sub-Bottom Monitor
The Analog Monitor is used to configure the analog settings for generating triggers and for listening for returns. Each analog Sub-Bottom system will have its own particular settings to maximize the quality of the returns. 6

manually digitize acoustic layers
Sub-Bottom Data Processing: Loading Files mark targets manually digitize acoustic layers SBP reads SEG-Y files collected in HYPACK. It may read some other vendors' SEG-Y files, but there are several varieties of SEG-Y and some do not have position data necessary for targeting. 10

SBD: Imagery Options Improve the quality of your imagery with Time Varied Gain (TVG) (Exponential or User Defined) and Band Pass Filtering 11

SBD: Targeting Depth Targets Add, edit, or delete targets in edit mode
Drag target's handle to mark depth Saved to SBP.tgt in the project folder 12

SBD: Digitizing Layers
Digitize up to 20 different layers Apply different sound velocity for water and sediment Layers can be exported to EDT or XYZ format Click to add a point to the layer Shift + click to remove a point 13

Display of Sub-Bottom in CSV
SURVEY saves the Sub-Bottom data to SEG-Y format files in the Project’s Raw folder. In CSV: Load EDT Files (same as usual) Checkbox ‘Load Sub-Bottom Data’ The Seg-Y are automatically matched, using the rootname of each file. Same View and Print functions. 16
