1 Direct and Indirect Object Pronouns Chapter 1B Grammar By: Emily Johansen from Chicas

2 The Spanish Pronouns- Direct & Indirect Me=me Te=you Lo=him, it, you (Ud.) La=her, it, you (Ud.) Nos=us Os= you (vosotros-as) Los=them, you (Uds.) Las=them, you (Uds.) Me=to/for me Te=to/for you Le=to/for you-him- her Nos=to/for us Os=to/for you Les=to/for you-them

3 Placing the Pronouns! The pronouns always precede the conjugated Spanish verb, like so: Ellas las dan. Yo lo compro. Direct/indirect objects may also be attached to an infinitive or a present participle, but you have to add an accept mark to maintain the original stress of the present participle. Estoy instalándolos ahora. Voy a comprarte dos.

4 Direct and Indirect Pronouns Together: When a sentence has two object pronouns in one sentence in Spanish, the indirect object pronouns occurs first. When adding two object pronouns to an infinitive or a present participle, an accent mark must be added to the infinitive or present participle in order to maintain the correct pronunciation. ¿Me la puedes traer?¿Puedes traérmela? The indirect object pronouns le and les become se when used together with lo, la, los, or las. ¿Quieres pintarles la silla a tus padres?  ¿Quieres pintársela?/ ¿Se la quieres pintar?
