Immigration and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Mohamed Elsayed Kristen Anglesey Armando Gonzalez
2
How the Conflict Started Started in the 1800s when Zionist group formed. Zionists considered settling in Africa and the Americas before choosing Palestine. UN Partition granted the Zionists 55% of Palestine, with only 30% of population Jewish. Zionists conquered 78% of Palestine in the war between Arabs and Zionists in 1947. Zionists remaining 22% of Palestine as well as parts of Egypt and Syria in the 1967 war.
4
Current Issues The illegal Israeli settlements inside the 1948 borders in the Palestinian territories. The demolishing of the Palestinian properties and the seizure of the land in the favor of building illegal settlements for the Israeli migrants. The Israeli denial of Palestinian refugees right of return especially those who were forcefully removed. Israeli Army Checkpoints within the Palestinian West Bank territories makes it very difficult for Palestinians to move from one town/city to another.
5
Current Issues Hamas and West Bank bi-government’s continuing conflict of interest that makes t almost impossible to make a deal in regard of Gaza Strip as Hamas disapproves ant compromise when it comes to world’s recognition of Israel’s Privileged/Right to build a theocratic religious state on the Palestinian land.
6
Possible Solutions The immediate discontinuance of the Israeli illegal settlements construction and the return if all seized land during and after 1967. Israel should withdraw to its 1948 agreement upon borders and therefore the demolishing of the buildings within the Palestinian 1948 borders must as well stop. All Israeli checkpoints should be removed and Israel should withdraw its forces from the West Bank.
7
Possible Solutions Hamas has to work a deal with the Palestinian elected government in the West Bank that will result in outcomes such as: 1) The regognition of the Jewish Theocracy as an independent state 2) Security cooperation with the Palestinian government in the West Bank to avoid security threats and border threats from radical groups within Gaza.
