1 QUICK TIPS AND INSTRUCTION FOR CONDUCTING YOUR ANNUAL CHILD COUNT

3 Child Count Group Page Sign up to join the Deaf-Blind Child Count Group. We will disseminate information through the website and this will ensure you get notifications of new information.

5 Accessing Child Count Data  There are a number of ways to access the Deaf- Blind Child Count Data:  Annual Reports  Longitudinal Reports  Interactive data maps  Requesting specific analyses

6 2015 Child Count - Reporting  Submission data  Early Submissions are always welcome  We can extend to May 15, 2016  Request an extension if circumstances require a later date  Contact Mark Schalock or Robbin Bull anytime with questions you may have.Mark Schalock Robbin Bull

7 2015 Child Count – Data Format  Submitting your data file  We prefer to have your data submitted as an Excel file, but any format that is readable by Excel is acceptable. Please do not send your data as a PDF file.  Make sure columns are correctly titled. You don’t have to worry about order.  When we receive files with blank cells/missing data we fill in those cells with the appropriate code depending on variable (e.g., 999 or 2).

9 2015 Child Count – Data Received  What happens after we receive your data?  Clean each file Fill in blank cells, reformat alpha-numeric, create additional variables.  Aggregate data into single file and conduct initial analyses to find duplicates  Post draft report to review (early August)  Send to OSEP for approval  Once approved, disseminate report on NCDB website (October 1)
