2 NEWSFLASH ‘Our precious planet is being destroyed.’ Bad news keeps coming! On your post it note, write down what you suggest we should do when you hear the following bits of news. ‘We cannot replace the earth!’ ‘The planet was given to us by God’ ‘The earth was made for us to use, not abuse’

3  Introduce ideas about how people treat the earth  Explore religious beliefs about the origin of life

4 1. Find 2 images to represent what key terms you think will be used during this new topic on planet earth 2. Extra challenge: Write a debate script between people discussing what our current topic of study will be about

5  In groups you must research the following: 1. The Christian creation story from the Bible 2. The Buddhist creation story Create a cartoon script/TV show that explains both viewpoints (you must refer to Biblical version (extra challenge: compare different translations) OR Form a panel acting out a Buddhist and a Christian debating how they believe the universe began – reference to Genesis needed

6 Research:  Text book pages 30 and 31  Bible: Genesis  I pads: barcode scanner Production:  I pad – sticky notes, popplet  Poster paper  Colours

7  Share your work with another group  Give an A2L and sign  Merits for 1s

8 1. Look at your assessment 2. Record your result in your target sheet 3. Look for a question which you did not receive full marks in 4. Research the question using the text book 5. Use your smelly pen to add to your answer to achieve more marks 6. Full marks in all? Using your smelly pen, add to your assessment what you believe Buddhist/Christian views would be towards our treatment of the planet. Can you use any of the same religious teachings? Explain.
