. COHEED AND CAMBRIA
2
In March 1995, after the split of Claudio Sanchez and Travis Stever's band called Toxic Parents, they formed a band with Nate Kelley called Beautiful Loser. The band featured Stever on vocals and guitar, Sanchez on guitar, Kelley on drums and Jon Carleo on bass. The group was short-lived, breaking up by June 1995 after an argument over gas money. Stever left the band, and the resulting trio was named Shabütie, a word taken from African tribe chants that means "naked prey" in the film The Naked Prey.

Originally formed as a trio under the name Shabutie from Nyack, New York. Shedding the old name, Coheed and Cambria was born and broke through into the music industry in 2001. Sticking to concept albums about characters in their comic book, The Amory Wars, which is set in Heaven’s Fence; a collection of 78 planets held in place by interconnecting beams of energy called the Keywork. Heavy influence from metal, punk, and rock can be heard.

Punk Rock Rejected perceived excesses of mainstream 1970s rock. Punk bands typically use short or fast-paced songs, with hard-edged melodies and singing styles, stripped- down instrumentation, and often political, anti- establishment lyrics. Punk embraces a DIY ethic; many bands self-produced recordings and distributed them through informal channels.

Punk rock is the influence in this song. Catchy riff with basic melody carried by the voice and guitar. A call and response is heard in this song. What did I do to deserve (this). Blood Red Summer, Coheed and Cambria

Heavy metal Traditionally characterized by loud distorted guitars, emphatic rhythms, dense bass- and-drum sound, and vigorous vocals. Bands like Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and many more, paved the road for this genre of music.
7
Arguably one of their more recognizable songs, the influence of this song is very metal and rock. The bass has a very steady beat, a long with the drums, while the voice and guitars keep the melody. The song tells of the hostility in The Writer and Miss Erica Court's relationship in The Amory Wars Welcome Home, Coheed and Cambria

The first half of the story narrates Coheed Kilgannon and Cambria Kilgannon's struggle against Wilhelm Ryan, the Supreme Tri-Mage. The second half of the story focuses on the heroic journey of their son, messianic Claudio Kilgannon. Over the course of the story, Claudio assumes the mantle of The Crowing, foretold savior of Heaven's Fence. In the end, he will face the Archmage, absolute ruler of Heaven's Fence and the one ultimately responsible for the death of Claudio's family.
