4 Key Features Repeat the word –Imprinting –Muscle memory Predict the meaning –Use metacognition Give a physical symbol Sketch for the brain Use it in an oral sentence –Write an example under the sketch

5 Match and Discuss oSelect new vocabulary for an upcoming unit of instruction oFind pictures that might go with that vocabulary (you do not need an equal number, but should have more pictures) oAsk students to discuss the words oMatch the words to pictures that best represent each word oExplain choices to the group.

8 The Florida Center for Reading Research Mission: 1. To conduct basic research on reading, reading growth, reading assessment, and reading instruction that will contribute to the scientific knowledge of reading and benefit students in Florida and throughout the nation. 2.
