Domestic Violence Where there is domestic violence, there is usually child abuse as well.

Poverty Children in poverty are at higher risk of abuse and neglect.

Physical Abuse ◦ Bruises or welts ◦ Unexplained or multiple broken bones ◦ Burns or injuries in a shape ◦ Repetitive dental injuries ◦ Failure to grow at expected rate

Sexual Abuse ◦ Pain, itching, bleeding, bruises around genitalia ◦ Venereal Disease ◦ Difficulty walking or sitting ◦ Discharge from genitals

Emotional Abuse ◦ Delayed development ◦ Habits such as rocking or sucking fingers ◦ Impaired sense of worth ◦ Extremes of behavior

Neglect ◦ Constant hunger ◦ Begging or hoarding food ◦ Fatigue ◦ Poor hygiene ◦ Inappropriate dress ◦ Lack of supervision ◦ Malnutrition ◦ Delayed medical or dental help
