{ Constructions Duplicating and Line and an Angle
2
Draw a line segment on your paper using your straight edge. Label the points A and B. Duplicating a Line
3
1. Measure the length of the original line segment by adjusting your compass.
4
2. Choose a new starting point (A’) and draw a line extending from this point.
5
3. Keeping the same compass measure, place the compass on the starting point A’ and mark where the pencil intersects the line.
6
4. Place the point B’ where the arc and your new line intersect. You now have line segment A’B’.
7
Draw an angle on your page using a straight edge. Label the vertex A and a point on the bottom ray B. Duplicating an Angle
8
1. Select a starting point (which will be the vertex of the duplication, point A’) and construct a line.
9
2. Construct an arc on the original angle (must intersect both rays and compass tip should be on the vertex, point A)
10
3. Construct an arc with exact same measure on duplication (place compass tip on A’)
11
4. Measure the distance between the two points where the arc intersects the rays of the original angle (place compass point on B and measure to C)
12
5. Keeping the same compass measure, place compass point on point B’ and construct a second arc that will intersect the first arc in step three.
13
6. Connect new arc to arc intersection (the one you just made at C’) with starting point A’
