To start… When we describe a person, we need to talk about:
What they look like (Physical Description): Hair, eyes, nose, mouth, face, shoulders, height, built, age, expression and general appearance. What they are like (Personality and Character) If we are describing a photograph, we can also talk/write about their clothes and what they are doing.

Structure/ paragraphs
Introduction “If I could meet anyone in the world, I would like to meet ….” “ One of the people I admire the most is ….” 2. Physical description: “He/She is …” 3. Description of character and personality. 4. Conclusion: Say what you admire the most about that person or why you would like to meet them. REMEMBER: This organization is flexible, but you need to follow some order, and the information in each paragraph must be clear and different from the others.

Physical description HAIR: long, medium-length, short; straight, curly, wavy; blond(e), fair, dark, brown, black, red, grey, going grey, white, thinning; a beard, a moustache, bushy eyebrows; bald; receding hairline. EYES: green, blue, brown, greenish-blue, grey, big, round, bright. NOSE: long, turned-up, pointed MOUTH: wide, generous; thin lips, full lips CHIN: pointed, firm, weak FACE: oval, round, long; high cheekbones; a scar, a beard, moustache, clean-shaven, freckled, wrinkled, FOREHEAD: high, low EARS: big, small, pointed, sticky-out

SHOULDERS: broad, narrow BUILD: skinny, thin, fit, slim, slender, muscular, well-built, heavily-built, strong, plump, overweight, chubby, fat, obese. HEIGHT: tall, of medium height, short, petite. AGE: young, middle-aged, elderly, old; in his early thirties; in her mid-fifties; in their late forties EXPRESSION: serious, cheerful, worried, friendly GENERAL APPEARANCE: good-looking, pretty, handsome, beautiful, gorgeous, attractive, ugly, plain; CLOTHES: baggy, comfortable, fitted, skin-tight, checked, stripy, conservative, daring, cotton, denim, woollen, embroidered, fashionable, sophisticated, sporty, well dressed, casually dressed, trendy, scruffy, untidy, shabby,

Character and personality
Adjectives: Affectionate, aggressive, boring, calm, caring, cheerful, cold, deceitful, dull, easy-going, emotional, extroverted, friendly, generous, honest, interesting, kind, mean, modest, moody, nervy, out-going. optimistic, patient, pessimistic, polite, practical, reserved, rude, selfish, self-confident, sensitive, serious, shy, sociable, unkind, vain. Compound adjectives: We put two words together using a hyphen (-) and –ed after the second word: bad-tempered, narrow-minded, open-minded, two-faced
