1 Bell Work 1/19/16 Last week we finished up by talking about the bombing of Pearl Harbor. How would this be a part of the Japanese strategy to take over Pacific Ocean? Would it have the desired effect that the Japanese were hoping? Explain in your journal. (page 557)

2 After Pearl Harbor on the Home Front… Japanese government: “The US is now reduced to a third-rate power and is trembling in her shoes.” Truth: Battle cry of “Remember Pearl Harbor” united many Americans with rage not fear to fight and prove the Japanese wrong.

3 Essential Question EQ: How did America mobilizing for the war impact American citizens? I will explain the effects mobilization had on Americans and argue if the changes were necessary.

4 US is getting ready to fight WWII 1941 was significant year for two reasons: 1. Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. 2. Hitler invaded the Soviet Union. They needed to prepare the nation on homefront to fight the war. Women began to serve the military in non-combat positions. ***America was ready to fight, but was taunted by the Japanese.
