2 Relative Dating Principles - Law of Superposition: in an undeformed sequence of sedimentary rocks, each bed is older than the one above it and younger than the one below

3 Principle of Cross-cutting Relations: features (faults, intrusions etc.) that extend across a rock layer are younger than that layer.
