Can you sit still? Presentation created by Ryan Belshaw

Story Beginning: Pongo needs a vaccination, but in order to do so he has to visit the doctor. Pongo will wait in the waiting room waiting to be called, which he will be called by Dr. Boinky. Once called, he will go into the room and sit on the chair that is located next to Dr Boinky’s desk. Dr Boinky’s task is to obviously give Pongo the vaccination, but also to keep Pongo calm. Middle: Dr. Boinky will introduce himself, and then point and tell Pongo to sit on the medical bed located on the other side of the room. Dr Boinky will tell Pongo to sit on the bed while he makes preparations over at the medical cabinets. Dr. Boinky will approach Pongo with a needle, but obviously try to hide it so that Pongo doesn’t see it. Dr. Boinky will tell Pongo to close his eyes and count to 5. Pongo will count to 5, which he will open his eyes to realise that the vaccination has been done. End: Pongo receives a sticker for being so calm, which then Pongo will say, “If I can do it, you can!” Purpose: The reason I chose to do a vaccination instead of an MRI scan is because I feel like the animation will be more beneficial since more children require a vaccination than an MRI scan. Design I plan to use flat colours and simplistic shapes, but that’s only because from the research that I conducted. It seems like children will lose interest if anything is too complicated, so this why I’ve decided to use flat colours and simplistic shapes. However, in terms of the colour I plan to use vibrant colours since this will be more pleasing towards the target audience. I have also designed 2 characters, Pongo and Dr. Boinky. I didn’t want to have too many characters since this maybe confusing for the target audience especially if the animation only needs to be 1 minute long. I do believe that 2 characters is more than enough. Evidence of Research

Execution I need to create a 1 minute animation @ 24FPS, format MP4 H.264 @ 1280x720. I have created the characters within Adobe Photoshop, but this is only because I can open the.PSD inside of Adobe After Effects. Since I’ve layered each body feature that I want to animate, I can make use of the layers inside Adobe After Effects. In terms of actually creating the animation, I plan to use the puppet tool inside Adobe After Effects as well as the ability to translate and rotate individual layers. I plan to animate a scene at a time just in case Adobe After Effects decides to crash. I plan to record my own dialogue, which I plan to record while being located in a sound booth to prevent the microphone picking up background noise. I plan to look for royalty free background music since I’m unable to create decent background music myself. Once the animation is completed, I plan to export the animation and import it inside Adobe Premiere. This will allow ease with adding sound to my animation since I do believe that Adobe After Effects is slightly odd when playing back sound. I may export the animation as an image sequence, so that I can edit each frame using batch render inside Adobe Photoshop, and then import the image sequence into Adobe Premiere.
