2 The APF’s priority areas remain unchanged. Our 2011-2015 Strategic Plan sets out our five strategic objectives, which are to: enhance members’ institutional capacity to promote and protect human rights enhance members’ communication, cooperation and engagement promote compliance with the Paris Principles engage with regional and international human rights mechanisms, and effective, efficient and strategic management of the APF. 3 Over the last year the APF has continued its work with government and civil society in Oman, Pakistan, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. APF establishment work

5 During the period of 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013, the APF either completed or initiated capacity assessments with the: Australian Human Rights Commission (April to May 2012) Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines (June to July 2012), and New Zealand Human Rights Commission (August 2012). The APF also conducted follow-up visits to the Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines and the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission in January and February 2013 respectively. 6 Capacity assessments have already been conducted with the following NHRIs: Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (2008) Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (2009) Jordan National Centre for Human Rights (2010) National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (2010) Palestinian Independent Commission for Human Rights (2011) Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (2011) National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia (2011) Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (2012). 7 APF 18 1-3 October 2013 in Qatar India has nominated to host the next APF Annual Business Meeting in 2014 Mongolia has nominated to host the next Annual Meeting and Biennial Conference in 2015. Further nominations have been invited. This issue will be discussed and agreed upon at APF18.
