A Science Fair is a place where children get together to show everybody the science projects they’ve done. It is a place where children have the opportunity to express their interests and ideas.

Curiosity Learning how to find information Organizing information Develop thinking skills Stimulate a love for learning It is so much more than winning a prize or a ribbon!

The type of project your child can choose to enter need not be an experiment. Usually, it is the experiment project that is chosen to go on to Brookhaven. However, the idea is to GET YOUR CHILD INVOLVED IN A WAY THAT SUITS HIS OR HER INTERESTS AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS.

It can be demonstration, a collection, a model or an experiment. It can tell how something works or why something happens. It can be an observation or study of a particular animal. The point of the project is to learn something, to answer a questions about just about anything-things your child might have seen or heard; something that he or she has read about or thought about.

BNL will not provide facilities or outlets for electricity, running water, drainage, gas or compressed air. Dangerous chemicals, open flames and explosives may not be exhibited. All projects must be durable and safe. Moveable parts must be firmly attached. Any project deemed to be unsafe or inhumane in any way will not be displayed at the BNL Science Fair and will not be judged. Live animals cannot be exhibited at the BNL Science Fair, but photographs are acceptable.
