Instructions for using this template. Remember this is Jeopardy, so where I have written “Answer” this is the prompt the students will see, and where I have “Question” should be the student’s response. To enter your questions and answers, click once on the text on the slide, then highlight and just type over what’s there to replace it. If you hit Delete or Backspace, it sometimes makes the text box disappear. When clicking on the slide to move to the next appropriate slide, be sure you see the hand, not the arrow. (If you put your cursor over a text box, it will be an arrow and WILL NOT take you to the right location.)

Choose a category. You will be given the answer. You must give the correct question. Click to begin.

The magnetic force on a magnet is the strongest here

What are the north and south poles?

The natural push and pull of a magnet that you cannot see

What is the invisible force?

A compasses point always points towards this

What is the North Pole?

The area around the magnet that attracts magnetic items

A piece of metal that pulls some objects towards it

What is a magnetic field?

Iron filings form these curved lines that link the magnet’s poles

What are magnetic lines of force?

What is a magnet?

A magnet powered by a battery or power source

The iron molecules do this in a magnet to make it attract

What is an electromagnet?

A magnet does this to a paper clip

What is attract?

What is line up?

Similar ends of a magnet do this

What is repel?

A natural build up of static electricity in clouds

What is lightning?

This type of electricity stays in one place

What is static electricity?

When static is present in a dark room you can see this

What are sparks?

An item that creates static when rubbed on your head

What is a balloon?

This is closely related to electricity because it is used to make it

What is magnetism?

Energy is captured and stored in these for future use

What are batteries?

This vegetable can be used as a battery

What 3 elements made the potato battery work?

What is a potato?

Like a magnet, batteries have 2 ends that have what charges?

What are positive (+) & negative (-)?

What are zinc, copper, and potato water/acid?

These transported power to make the light bulb light up

What are wires?

A rectangular, flat magnet that lifts heavy objects

What is a bar magnet?

A round, long magnet used as a tool

What is a rod magnet?

A U-shaped magnet used in electronics

What is a horseshoe magnet?

A flat, round magnet found on fridge magnets

What is a disc magnet?

A flat, round magnet with a hole in the centre used in speakers

What is a ring magnet?

Make your wager

What are the three elements that are magnetic?
