5 SPEECH WHAT THEY SAY (VOICE, WORD CHOICE) – What verbal language is used ? – If the language is complex, may be they’re intelligent. HOW THEY SAY IT (PITCH, VOLUME, TONE) – What additional qualities or quirks the verbal language? Accent? Dialect? – EX: Stuttered speech may reveal nervousness or deception

6 THOUGHT WHAT ARE THEY THINKING? – What are the characters BELIEFS ? – What DECISIONS do the characters make? – Do they ARGUE ? Are they PASSIVE ? HOW DO THEY FEEL? – What body language is used? – What type of underlying emotions are exposed?

7 EFFECT HOW DO THEY INTERACT? – Are they a POSITIVE influence? Or do they stir up trouble? – How do others react to character’s EMOTIONS? – Who do they befriend/antagonize ?

8 ACTIONS HOW DO THEY ACT WITH OTHERS? – How do they behave in public ? – What happens to the character when UNDER STRESS or PRESSURE ? – Ex: Always tweets about how much her best friend bothers her.

9 LOOKS HOW DO THEY LOOK? –What is the character’s PHYSICAL APPEARANCE ? – BE CAREFUL! Appearances can be deceiving. DID YOU SEE THAT? –What facial expressions do the character’s make? –What are they wearing ? Clothes and costumes tell a lot about a character.
