Access-a-Ride ID: Travel for free on most RTD buses (not special service…i.e.Rockies Ride) Have proof of age, RTD discount card or an Access-a- Ride ID card if you have one ready to show. Note: Ticket books and passes can be purchased at King Soopers Safeway RTD Station www.rtd-denver.com

If you will use more than one bus on your trip (going one direction) – pay the fare on the first bus and request a transfer from the driver. Using Transfers When you board the next bus, show the driver your transfer – you will not need to pay again.

Light Rail Zones / Fares Passenger fares are determined by the number of adjacent zones they travel through. Buy ticket at kiosk on platform at station.

Traveling with Children in Strollers Strollers cannot be larger than 48” long and 30” wide (“umbrella” strollers are preferred) Strollers without children in them must be collapsed on the bus No three wheeled “jogging” strollers are allowed

Carry personal belongings close and only carry a small amount of cash Do not accept rides from strangers, even if the weather is bad Suggestions for Safety

No toy buggies or pull wagons are allowed Strollers must be collapsed to make more room for others You may use the lift to get on the bus

Getting on the Correct Bus At the bus stop – look for stickers on the sign with the names / numbers of the bus routes that come to the stop On the front of bus – look for bus route name / number sign If you are not sure - ask the driver

Requesting Accommodations: Have the driver wait until you are seated before pulling away. Tell the driver your destination stop instead of ringing the bell. Use communication device or aids.

Use the lift even if you do not use a mobility device. Bring a portable shopping cart onto the bus using the lift or stairs. Have the driver pull all the way up to the curb so there is no gap to step over.

Finding a Seat The seats near the front of the bus are designated for people with disabilities or older adults. Be aware that you may have to move if a person using a wheelchair boards the bus and you are sitting in the securement area.

Ring bell about a block before your stop. Request Your Stop Exceptions: People with visual impairments or who use communication cards or mobility devices should communicate directly with driver.

Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop Exit out the rear door if possible Remember your accommodation rights Disembark

If you are unable to use public transit - Access-a-Ride A van service provided by RTD for persons limited in their ability to use the regular Certification process with Easter Seals in Lakewood
