13. Facial Expressions are Non-Manual Signals (NMS) Facial expressions can change the base meaning of a sign: scarednot scaredhorrified fear

14. Non-Manual Signals (NMS) Examples: She likes ice cream. Does she like ice cream? I’m happy! I’m happy (sarcasm). Non Manual Signals can convey your “tone of voice”: You don’t need a separate sign for don’t or not. Just use the head shake while signing the sentence.
