The NZDF The New Zealand Defence Force (The NZ Army, Air Force and Navy) responded immediately to the February 22 nd 2011 EarthquakeNew Zealand Defence Force During the peak of the operation 1796 NZ Defence force made up of the Army, Navy, Air force and Territorials. They were supplemented by 116 soldiers from the Singapore Army, in Christchurch for a training exercise at the time of the earthquakeSingapore Army

Air bridge An ‘air bridge' set up by the Royal New Zealand Air Force after the 22 February 2011 earthquake. Security NZ Army personnel and their Singapore Armed Forces counterparts are continuing to provide the 24/7 cordon around the central city, with security patrols also in place in the suburbs of Bexley and Waltham.

Food New Zealand Army chefs preparing and delivering over 850 meals at the Burnham Military Camp. Surveys HMNZS RESOLUTION has completed a survey of the main shipping route into Lyttleton harbour and results passed to port authorities. Survey of the inner harbour and the Lyttleton port is considered safe for navigation.
