Stars and our Sun A STAR IS A BIG EXPLODING BALL OF GAS. THE GASSES IN A STAR ARE MOSTLY HYDROGEN AND HELIUM. A STAR SHINES BY BURNING HYDROGEN INTO HELIUM IN A STARS CORE. THE WAY STARS ARE CLASSIFIED ARE BY SIZE, COLOR, BRIGHTNESS, AND TEMPERATURE. CONSTELLATIONS ARE A BIG GROUP OF STARS THAT MAKE A PICTURE. LONG AGO PEOPLE THOUGHT THAT GREEK GODS AND GODDESSES PUT THE STARS IN THE SKY AND SHAPED THEM INTO A CONSTELLATION SUCH AS ORIENS BELT AND THE BIG DIPPER.

Inner and outer planets TWO INNER AND OUTER PLANETS ARE JUPITER (OUTER PLANET) AND MERCURY (INNER PLANET). THE DIAMETER FOR MERCURY IS 4,878 KM, THE TEMPERATURE GETS TO ABOUT -300F TO 800F AND MERCURY IS 35.98 MILLION MILES FROM THE SUN. THE COMPOSITION OF MERCURY'S ATMOSPHERE IS MADE OF TINY AMOUNTS OF HYDROGEN, HELIUM, AND OXYGEN. WHEN A COMET NEARS THE SUN THE COMET WILL GET A “TAIL” OF GAS AND DUST SPECKS POINTING AWAY FORM THE SUN. THE DEFINITION OF A METEOR IS, A SMALL BODY FROM SPACE THAT ENTERS EARTHS ATMOSPHERE THEN BECOMES A BEAMING RESULT OF A STREAK OF LIGHT IN THE SKY. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A METEOR, METEOROID, AND A METEORITE IS, A METEOR IS A METEOROID THAT IS OBSERVED AS IT BURNS UP IN EARTHS ATMOSPHERE. A METEOROID IS A SMALL PARTICLE FROM AN ASTEROID ORBITING THE SUN. FINALLY A METEORITE IS A METEOROID THAT SURVIVES ITS WAY THROUGH THE EARTHS ATMOSPHERE AND THEN IMPACTS THE EARTH.

The Great Comet of 1680 THE GREAT COMET OF 1680 WAS THE BRIGHTEST COMET IN THE 17 TH CENTURY. THE COMET IS ALSO CALLED KIRSCH’S COMET. ISAAC NEWTON USED THE ORBIT OF THE COMET AS A STUDY IN THE CLARIFICATION OF KEPLER'S LAWS OF MOVEMENT. SOME PEOPLE THINK THAT THE COMET ISON WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO VISIT THE INNER SOLAR SYSTEM IN 2013, MIGHT BE RELATED T0 KIRSCH'S COMET.

Gravity GRAVITY IS A FORCE THAT MAKES AN OBJECT GO TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE EARTH. OR TOWARD ANY OTHER PHYSICAL BEING HAVING MASS. THE WAY GRAVITY IMPACTS HUMANS IS, THE SUNS PULL KEEPS OUR PLANET ORBITING THE SUN. THE MOVEMENT OF THE MOON IS AFFECTED BY THE GRAVITY OF THE SUN AND EARTH. THE MOONS GRAVITATIONAL PULL MAKES TIDES RISE AND FALL EACH AND EVERY DAY. MY WEIGHT WOULD VARY ON EACH PLANET I WOULD BE ON. SO ON VENUS I WOULD WEIGH, 90.7 POUNDS AND ON MERCURY I WOULD WEIGH 37.8 POUNDS AND ON MARS I WOULD WEIGH 37.7 POUNDS.

Technology A CERTAIN TYPE OF TECHNOLOGY THAT IS IN SPACE IS, THE ORION SPACECRAFT AT A MAX SPEED OF 20,000 MPH. ORION'S MISSION WAS FOR A MINIMUM OF FOUR ASTRONAUTS TO FLY PAST THE MOON AND TAKE THEM BACK SAFELY. IT MIGHT EVEN TAKE ASTRONAUTS TO AN ASTEROID OR EVEN TO MARS IN THE NEAR FUTURE! THE ORION SPACECRAFT LAUNCHED IN DECEMBER 2014 AND MIGHT HOLD A CREW FOR A MISSION IN 2023. THE ORION SPACECRAFT BENEFITS HUMANS SO NASA CAN SEND HUMANS TO AN ASTEROID AROUND 2025 WHERE ASTRONAUTS CAN LEARN MORE. NASA WILL ALSO TRY TO SEND ASTRONAUTS TO MARS SO WE CAN DISCOVER NEW THINGS ABOUT MARS.

Juno Juno is another successful spacecraft. Juno successfully accomplished a maneuver to adjust its flight path. On February 3 the maneuver refined the spacecraft's trajectory, helping Juno arrive at the largest planetary inhabitant five months and a day from then. Juno’s name comes from Greek and Roman mythology. The god Jupiter drew a veil of clouds around himself to hide his mischief, and his wife the goddess Juno. Juno’s orbit height is about 2,672 miles high, and Juno’s max speed is at 23,610 mph. Juno’s manufacturer is Lockheed Martin and Juno costs 1.1 billion dollars.
