4. Grading  This year Standards Based Grading will be implemented in Fifth Grade.  Assessments will be sent home for review through Friday Folders. Please sign the cover sheet and return all assessments in folder each week.  Dr. O’Neil will be providing a Parent night explaining Standards Based Grading on Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Harker School from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM

5. Reading/ Language Arts  This year we will be utilizing the grade Reading Wonders program. Students will read text more closely to deepen their understanding of the text. Students will also work on citing evidence from the text to support their responses.  We are also using some parts of the Daily 5  Being a Writer  Focus on building a writing community  Styles of Writing:  Personal Narratives  Opinion  Expository  Fiction  Poetry
