2 A Man To Remember: Edward S. Beanie Drake Known as "Beanie" by his many friends, he dedicated himself to students during his career at Ohio State. Known as "Beanie" by his many friends, he dedicated himself to students during his career at Ohio State. Mr. Drake was made an honorary member of all campus men's honoraries, and at one time was an advisor to ten student organizations simultaneously. 3 The Edward S. “Beanie” Drake Student Leader Endowment Fund: A History  1950: The senior class left $500 for undergraduate scholarships Ohio Staters, Inc. administered the scholarship until 1964 when the responsibilities were placed under an elected board of directors. 5 Becoming A Scholarship Recipient: The Process Students must first apply online. Students must first apply online. All applications will be read by the Board. 6 Are You A Match? Scholarship selection is based on student involvement or potential for student involvement, along with financial need. For example, a student may want to get involved or join another organization, but doesn’t have time to because they have to work to secure funds for their education. The scholarship helps alleviate some of that need which in turn gives the student time to get involved.
