What was the role of alliances as a cause of WWI?  The role of alliances were used for defensive measures.  Alliances may also contain economic elements, such as trade agreements, Investments, and loans. Alliances are possibly the best known cause of World War 1.  During the 19 th and early 20 th centuries European nations regularly formed, annulled and restrudcctd their alliances. By 1914 the great powers of Europe had shuffled themselves into tow opposing's alliances blocs. In theory, these alliances blocs meant that a war between two opposing nations might mean war between them all.

Information  There were a large number of allies on each side of the conflict, and their geographical location and that of their imperial provinces meant that parts of the war were fought all over Europe, and in other places such as North Africa and the Middle East.  Some battle that happened are The battle of Liege, battle of the Frontiers, battle of Cer, battle of Tannenberg, First battle of the Marne, battle of Verdun, battle of Dujaila, Battle of Lake Naroch, First battle of Kut, Battle of Asiago, and Battle of the Somme and many others.

What was the role of militarism as a cause of WWI?  The German army officer Alfred Vagts described militarism as the “domination of the military man over the civilian, an undue preponderance of military demands, an emphasis on military considerations”  Governments were strongly influenced. If not dominated often acted as de Facto government minister advising political leaders influenced, if not dominated by their military personnel and consideration. General and admiral soften acted as de facto government ministers, advising political leaders, influencing domestic policy and demanding increases in defense spending.  Some of the weapons they used in The war

What was the role of imperialism as a cause of WWI?  By 1914 the net result of imperialism was a world in which the western powers had established themselves competitively on every continent.  Britain had an empire 140 times its own size. Belgium an empire 80 times its size: Holland, 60 times, and France, 20 times.

What was the role of nationalism as a cause of WWI Nationalism was also reflected in other aspects of popular culture, including literature, music, and theatre. Royals, politicians and diplomats did little to deflate nationalism. Some actively contributed to it with their won provocative remarks and rhetoric nationalism assured citizens of the moral rectitude of their nation

What were the Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente  The triple alliance was a military alliance among Germany, Austria- Hungary, and Italy. It lasted form 20 may 1882 until World War 1 in 1914.  The triple entente is the alliance of the three powers supplemented by agreements with Portugal and Japan, constituted a powerful counterweight to the triple alliances of Germany, Austria-Hungary and the kingdom of Italy.

What was the Zimmerman Telegraph  This was a 1917 diplomatic proposal from the German empire offering a military alliance with Mexico in the event of the united states entering World War 1 against Germany.

What was the Western Front?  The Western Front was the name the Germans gave to a series of trenches that ran 700 kilometers from the Belgian coast to the Swiss border.  As at Galipoli, machine gun fire caused terrible casualties on the western front. Both sides had dug trenches, sometimes only meters apart as their only protection from the murderous gun fire, but they were never safe from the explosive artillery shells that rained down on the front line soldiers every few seconds for days at a time.

What was the purpose of a trench?  Due to the rise of machine guns, and modern artillery the trench's were used to protect the soldiers. Defensive weapons were far superior to offensive weapons until the tank appeared at the end of the war and finally gave a way for the attacking army to break thru.

No man's land" and "going over the top" are phrases he keeps writing about. They sound frightening. Were they? Why?  Yes they were frightening because of what its meaning is No mans land is the area between each army’s trenches it is pretty much a minefield. Going over the top is when soldiers go over the sand bags just in front of the frontline trench.

What was the Treaty of Versailles? The treaty of Versailles was one of the pace treaties of the end of WWI. It ended the state of war between German and the allied powers. It was signed on 28 June 1919, exactly five years after the assassination of archduke Franz Ferdinand.

Why was the league of nations created? the league of nations was an international organization Headquarter in Geneva, Switzerland, created after the first World War to provide a forum for resolving international disputes. Though first proposed by president Woodrow Wilson as a part of his fourteen Points for an equitable peace in Europe, the United States never became a member.
