2 2 We Put Patients First Why? DOH Rules and Regulations: FGI guidelines 1.2-7.5 Existing Conditions Existing Conditions and operations shall be documented prior to initiation of renovation and/or new construction….. Best Practices. Goals: Create an accurate basis for developing scope, cost, schedule and design, Identify non-compliant conditions Minimize unknown project conditions Minimize change orders

3 3 We Put Patients First What need to be surveyed/documented? FGI 1.2-7.5 Existing Conditions Existing conditions…shall include mechanical/electrical…plumbing, fire suppression; detection; alarm.. Existing defects and deficiencies: Compromised/missing barrier walls; Missing dampers; Missing fire stopping.. Program elements per FGI guidelines: Adequate storage space; utility rooms… For projects that require pre-occupancy inspection, all of the above in the entire fire compartment including the egress path to public street. What resources are available? Existing Life Safety plans Statement of Conditions As-built drawings

7 7 We Put Patients First What to do with the findings? Projects that are moving forward: Record findings in Feasibility Study Documents. Report deficiencies to Facilities Operation and Regulatory Compliance Include corrective measures for defects and deficiencies in project scope. Projects that are not moving forward: Record findings in Feasibility Study Documents Report deficiencies to Facilities Operation and Regulatory Compliance (for follow up)

8 8 We Put Patients First How to conduct Field Survey? Follow all established NYP Procedures. Coordinate all activates with clients; current occupants of the space; Security; EVS and Facilities Operation For intrusive work - PCRA; Infection Control measures; above ceiling permits, IC Cube/Booth etc. FDC will provide support of a small call-in contractor if needed.
