3 www.education.state.pa.us > PIMS Data and Graduation Rate Important Data Elements (in order)  Grade 9 Entry Date  Graduation Status Code, Diploma Type Code  District Code, Location Code  District Code of Residence, Location Code of Residence  Special Education, Student Status, Foreign Exchange Student, Residence Status Code  Gender Code, Race or Ethnicity Code, LEP/ELL Status, Economic Disadvantaged Status Code 3

4 www.education.state.pa.us > PIMS Data and Graduation Rate Grade 9 Entry Date  Grade 9 Entry Date is a school year record and is entered using the last possible day of the given school year in ISO Format (20XX-06-30)  A Grade 9 Entry Date should only be entered for a student when they actually start grade nine for the first time or the first time their IEP designates them as being in grade nine  Once a student enters grade nine, the same Grade 9 Entry Date must be entered in every Student Template record submitted from that point forward. It must never change for a student even if they repeat 9 th grade or change locations  Multiple Grade 9 Entry Dates result in a student being reported in multiple cohorts 4

5 www.education.state.pa.us > PIMS Data and Graduation Rate 4-Year Graduation Rate 5 = Graduates at end of four years Adjusted cohort at end of four years Definitions:  Graduates: Students who exit secondary education with a regular high school diploma (Graduation Status Code G and Diploma Type code 806)  Adjusted Cohort: Students who entered 9 th Grade for the first time four years ago, minus those who transferred out plus those who transferred in
