2 ZERO STRUCTURE IF present simple, present simple (future condition) (future result) USEFor real situations and scientific facts. The result of the condition is an absolute certaintly. EXAMPLESIf they can’t find you, they can’t wash you. They can’t wash you if they can’t find you. We can use when instead of IF.

3 First conditional STRUCTUREIF present simple, will + verb in infinitive (future condition) (future result) USEThere is a real possibility that this condition will happen. EXAMPLESIf it rains, we’ll stay at home. We’ll stay at home if it rains. We can use shall, can or may instead of will.

EXAMPLESIf I had enough money, I would buy a house with twenty bedrooms and a swimming pool. I would buy a house with twenty bedrooms and a swimming pool if I had enough money. We can use should, could or might instead of would.

5 THIRD STRUCTURE IF past perfect, would have+past participle (future condition) (future result) USETo talk about impossible conditions (who are in the past). Hypothetic situations in the past.
