FHSP (Foundation High School Plan) is designed to : Instill flexibility in public education by enabling students to either pursue a traditional path into colleges and universities or move directly into the workforce. Allow Students to earn one of 5 endorsements within this plan. ( Public Administration, Arts and Humanities, Multi-Disciplinary, STEM and Business Administration). o Students in Co-Hort 2015, 2016 and 2017 have the option of graduating on either the Recommended, Distinguished or the FHSP+ Endorsements o Co-Hort 2018(current 8 th graders will graduate strictly on the FHSP + Endorsements)

Bridges plans are only open for editing until February 7 th. Confirmation of Course Selections for 2014-2015 will be given to students on March 28 th. How to make changes March 28-June 6 1. Update Bridges 4 year plan. 2. Print copy of 4 year plan. 3. Give to counselor to make a change.

Last day for elective changes is June 7 th. During the school year, a student may request a change in course level only at certain times of the semester according to District policy. Before a change in level request can be made: o Student, parent(s), and teacher must conference o No missing assignments and must attend tutorials

Required Assessments For Class of 2015, 2016 & 2017 English I English II Algebra I US History Biology All students must meet at least the level two standard on all 5 EOCs to meet graduation requirements. Retests are in December, July, and taken with the Spring Administration.

Dual Credit Basics All Dual Credit courses: Are dependent upon enrollment and teacher availability Require college placement scores in reading, writing, and math (if attempting to do a math, science or economics) Are accepted at most colleges Acceptable tests include: 1.STARR (English III-Level II and/or Algebra II- Level II acceptable scores) 2.SAT 3.ACT Dual Credit students must: First apply online to Lonestar College-Kingwood Fill out an Exceptional Admissions form with parent, student, and high school counselor signatures Complete forms obtained from Celie Herbst, Dual Credit Liaison Test in March or April at Lonestar College and bring scores to KPHS Follow college guidelines when dropping a dual credit course

Only one athletic period at a time. There are tryouts for most sports. Some athletic programs begin in the summer – Check athletics page on website towards end of year. (Ex: Football, Cross Country & Volleyball.) If you do not make the team, you will be placed in PE. All athletics require a PHYSICAL EXAM every year.
