sl. 4 Date: 18/09/2016 Screening vs relief files Screening (angle) files *.hrscr files (High Resolution SCReening) contains the ranges and elevation angles for terrain obstacles inside each azimuth resolution angle Usage: Relief (map) *.rlf file for display purposes Only used in Radar Comparator (Mono/Dual)

sl. 5 Date: 18/09/2016 Data source Digital Elevation Models digital files consisting of points of elevations sampled systematically at equally spaced intervals during satellite observations of the earth Resolution: between 60deg N and 56deg S= resolution of 3 arcsec 90mx90m Other regions= resolution of 30 arcsec 1kmx1km Some info from Wikipedia: One powerful technique for generating digital elevation models is interferometric synthetic aperture radar; two passes of a radar satellite (such as RADARSAT-1) suffice to generate a digital elevation map tens of kilometers on a side with a resolution of around ten meters. One also obtains an image of the surface cover. Quality of the data depends on: terrain roughness sampling density (elevation data collection method) grid resolution or pixel size interpolation algorithm vertical resolution terrain analysis algorithm CMC uses the following files: \CMC Source Data \World 3, resolution of \World 30: *.DEM files Whole world dataset: 40GB Files describing cell of 1deg x 1deg
