1 W E L C O M E Heather Renne, Founder Mint Household Services, LLC We’re so excited to start enhancing your housekeeping career. In the following pages you will find tips and tricks for getting the most out of your business, as well as helpful information specifically referring to Mint and it’s operations. Thanks for joining our referral network. We look forward to getting you started!

2 Heather’s Helpful Hints! Welcome! As a cleaning industry veteran, I’d like to share what I’ve learned over the years. Whether you’re just starting out or have been cleaning for years, these tips will help you get the most from your jobs! 1. Keep track of your millage! This adds up very quickly and can significantly reduce the amount of taxes you pay at the end of the year. For your convenience, I’ve attached the form I use here. Keep it on a clip board in your car for easy tracking. 2. Keep your receipts for all cleaning materials you buy. You can deduct these as expenses as well. Use the green cleaner recipes below for low-cost, highly effective cleaners if you’d like. 3. You can deduct all your payments to Mint as “referral”, “marketing”, or “administration” fees. 4. Remember that, as an Independent Contractor you are responsible for filing your own taxes and documenting your own expenses. There are often many other deductions you can take including phone service, internet, rent/mortgage, and more. Usually this is as simple as adding a (roughly two-page) Schedule C to your regular filing, but consult your tax professional if you are unsure. 4. Communicate with your customers! Customers love getting personalized notes about what you got done, that extra little touch you put in, what you see that you’d like to tackle next time. Even a cute comment about what the dog did while you were there goes a LONG way. Cary a little notepad and pen along with your cleaning supplies. In my experience, this is the number one way to keep a customer forever!! 5. Give a little extra love once in a while. Arrange the stuffed animals on Joey’s bed, straighten all the towels, fluff the pillows and smooth out the bedspreads. They’ll think you’re the bees knees. Extra Hint: Don’t do anything extra the first time or they’ll expect it every time. Keep it random. 6. The first time with a new customer is always the hardest. Little things like looking for the outlets, scrubbing a stain you don’t yet know is permanent, and just finding your flow through the house really add up. Allow yourself some extra time to be sure you can get everything done. If a customer is going to dump you, they’re most likely to do it after the first clean. Knock their socks off and you’re likely in for the long haul. Heather Renne, Founder Mint Household Services, LLC
