Limitations and Requirements at WFO Guam Even though we have new faster comm lines, data still comes in sporadically into AWIPS2—difficult to get clean animations Backup CAST data is not at same resolution as CLOUD data AWIPS2 is not ideal for allowing for manual analysis (corrective streamlining, storm-relative animation, integration) Handling of polar orbiting swaths not efficient for comparing passes Possible TC-dedicated system Need for a McIDAS-like dedicated system to better evaluate and manipulate imagery (including integration of LEO and GEO data) Expansion of satellite sensors and sources (plus an operational need for a 24-hr help desk) Continued training and prepared training material for operational uses
