February 25, 2016 – LB471 became law June – August, 2016 – Pharmacies contacted August – December, 2016 – Work with dispensers, pharmacies to test and submit data October, 2016 – Training for dispensers December, 2016- Training for prescribers January 1, 2017 – PDMP Reporting Requirements Effective ◦ Mandatory reporting of controlled substances January 1, 2018 – Full medication history ◦ Mandatory reporting of ALL prescriptions dispensed

Who has to report? ◦ Pharmacies which dispense controlled substances ◦ Physicians with a Dispensing Practitioner Pharmacy License Is anyone exempted from the law? ◦ There are 4 exemptions in the law for 2017 ◦ ** ALL prescriptions to be submitted by January 1,2018 How do I get my data to the PDMP? ◦ Contact pharmacy system vendor ◦ Refer them to Nebraska PDMP Dispenser’s Implementation Guide How often do I need to submit my data? ◦ Daily (within one calendar day of the prescription being dispensed) How do I submit my dispensing data if I don’t have a pharmacy computer system ◦ Web portal How do I use the PDMP to perform a search for my patient?
