UNAM Library Catalogue OPAC – Online Public Access Catalogue The catalogue reflects what the Library has in its collection It is accessible via the Internet It helps with the selection of relevant material One can search the catalogue through different access points, e.g. author, title, subject, keyword and call number

Dewey Decimal Classification System (DDC) Classification is the process of grouping items according to a given criteria The DDC groups library items according to subject content. DDC assigns numbers to subjects UNAM Library uses the DDC to classify books.

Call Number Determines the specific location of an item in a library Consists of the DDC class number and the first three letters of either the author’s surname, the corporate author or the title of the item Items are shelved numerically according to the DDC class number and alphabetically according to the suffix

Use references when you: quote another person word for word paraphrase or summarise use statistics use tables, figures, diagrams and appendices UNAM uses the Bibliographic references : the name-year method.
