This will ensure we have closed lines so polygons can be created.

Add the Topology toolbar. Start editing if you aren’t in an edit session. Build topology on the parcel_line feature class. Make sure your target feature class is parcel_line! Select all the features from the parcel_line feature class and click on the Planerize button to create intersections where lines overlap. This will take 5 – 15 minutes to run. Save edits once completed!

Save as join_output in the parcel dataset. Remove the output, it will be used later.

One by one, zoom to each polygon where status doesn’t equal “GOOD” and fix the polygon and PARCEL_ID based on the type of error.

In most cases these errors will be sliver parcel polygons that were created because the location of the AutoCAD lines. Simply merge the parcel polygon into an adjacent parcel polygon that has a parcel-id. This will require some investigation if you have to assign the parcel polygon a parcel-id.

Use the parcel_id feature class as a reference to fix the appropriate parcel polygon. In most cases these errors have occurred when a parcel polygon should be split by a section line, thus creating two or more parcel-ids. This will require some investigation to determine where to split the parcel polygon.

In most cases these errors have occurred because the parcel polygons are located in two or more different locations within the same section, but were assigned the same parcel-id in AutoCAD. This will require some investigation to determine which parcel polygon has the correct parcel-id and which one(s) have the incorrect parcel-id.

In most cases these errors have occurred because parcel polygons are new parcels (splits or subdivisions) and their parcel-id have never been entered into the CAMA. This will require more than minimal investigation and depending on the circumstances might require the Assessor’s Office to enter the missing parcel-id into the CAMA.

In most cases these errors have occurred because the CAMA is assigning the incorrect legal acreage. This will require more than minimal investigation and depending on the circumstances might require the Assessor’s Office to correct the legal acreage in the CAMA.

The QC process requires a lot of investigation: CAMA, transfer books, plats, tax roll, and deeds.
