Summary The author was student body president of Erwin Middle School in Asheville, North Carolina. He was asked to make a speech at the ceremony. Erwin school had the highest dropout rate. So he said that he could get his classmates to become the first class in history to enter high school as freshmen and all graduate on graduation day. The entire audience erupted in applause.. Afterward, he worked on developing a program Dropout Patrol, composed of students who would be willing to help other students during bad times.

Throughout the summer, his class was featured 48 hours program and invited, Ken Hamblin Talks with America. So far this year, there were no dropout who signed the pledge has quit and the Dropout Patrol became the largest organized group in the school. Also many businesses supported this program.
