1 HOLIDAY SHOPPING SPREE MacKinnon Middle School students will be shopping for the holiday season!

2 Introduction The entire student body of the MacKinnon Middle School will be shopping this holiday season! It doesn’t matter what your background is or in what you believe. It is always a great feeling to give back to your favorite people. Click on your grade level to find the process you will be following. 6 th grade7 th grade8 th grade

3 6 th Grade Task Your task is to select one to two presents for each of the members in your household. You will search the internet using a variety of websites. Yes, you can select something for yourself! Cccs: 4.1, 4.5

4 6 th Grade Process 1.Create an Excel spreadsheet identifying each member of your household by name and age. (Any person over 18 years of age should be identified by “adult”.) 2.Search the internet using a variety of websites to find a gift for each member. 3.In your spreadsheet list the gift you selected and the item’s price. 4.Keep a checkbook: write a check to each store for the total amount of money you spent in each store. 5.Order your gifts from least to greatest. 6.Place your work into a presentation tool to be given as a gift. 7 7 th Grade Process Identify each member of your household by name. Search the internet using a variety of websites. Create a hyperlink to the website you are purchasing your gift from to prove your price. Make a table of your gifts. Include the name of the item, who it’s for, original price, coupon used, amount of discount, 7% sales tax. Place your work into an electronic booklet to be given as a gift. Search the internet using a variety of websites and look through flyers to find a gift for each member. Be sure to cut out the picture from the flyer in order to prove your price or form a word document with multiple pictures which can then be printed. Make a table of your gifts. Include the name of the item, who it’s for, original price, category, amount of discount, 6% sales tax, shipping and handling, additional costs, and total cost. Round each price to the nearest penny.
