2 KCD Gear ● Spirit Wear is OK ● We encourage you to show off your “Upper School Spirit” - Shively polos, t-shirts, sweatshirts... ● Your gameday t-shirts and polos are fine ● Your KCD Speech and Debate team shirt is fine ● Your “Wizard of Oz” t-shirt is fine

3 Am I allowed to wear sandals? YES (But not shower shoes/house shoes!)

4 Am I allowed to wear heels? YES, but they must be 2 inches or shorter.

5 Am I allowed to wear university shirts? Yes, if it's text/logo is “pocket” size or smaller (and no text/graphics on the back) No mascots please!

6 Am I allowed to wear shirts with logos? Yes, if it's text/logo is “pocket” size or smaller (and no text/graphics on the back)

7 Am I allowed to wear jeans? Yes As long as they don’t have… ● …holes ● …ragged edges

8 Am I allowed to wear shorts or skirts? Yes, but...six inches from floor when kneeling

9 The Jegging ● Since jeggings are typically made of a denim/spandex blend, they are often worn on their own as opposed to under a skirt or dress. Some jeggings have zip-flies and pockets, while others just have an elastic waistband and no pockets. (wikipedia) ● SO...We should not wear anything that has lycra/nylon/spandex- based material ● Teachers will address whether or not they think that your pants are appropriate ● Remember, the Handbook states: “The school retains final discretion as to whether a student is properly attired. Where dress is in compliance with the letter of these guidelines, but may violate the intent or spirit of the dress code, students should err on the side of caution and select attire that is clearly consistent with the dress code.

10 Do I ever have to come to school in “dress attire”? YES What does “dress attire” mean? - Game days for some sports - Field Trips - Picture Day - Special Grade-Level Days - Coat and tie with dress shoes - Dress, skirt, or pants with dress shoes Note: No jeans or flip flops

11 Women's Clothing ● No spaghetti straps ● No showing bra straps ● No cleavage ● No racerbacks ● No leggings ● No trendy sweaters/shirts that may “slip off the shoulder” and expose racebacks & bra straps...

12 Am I allowed to wear sweatpants? Yes, but only on dress down days. What about athletic game days? Normal bottoms – no warm up pants/sweatpants allowed

13 Am I allowed to have facial hair? Yes, but you have to grow it during the Summer

14 THINGS TO REMEMBER ● The adults are here to help you ● Our goal with the dress code in 2011 is SIMPLICITY ● Your job is to work hard, stay focused, maintain organization, and enjoy being a part of our community
