The Albany & Hudson Railway and Power Company was chartered on August 5, 1899. It consisted of several smaller power companies from Kinderhook, Hudson, and Albany, New York. This network also acquired the Greenbush and Nassau Electric Railway in 1899. Historical Background

1903 – Renamed to Albany & Hudson Railroad Company 1909 – Company sold to Albany Southern Railroad 1924 to 1929 – Railroad was operated under a new name: the Eastern New York Utilities Corporation. In 1929, local Railroads close due to Depression Era and the automobile claimed new roadway systems The former railroad right-of-way was obtained by Niagara Mohawk Utilities Corp, AKA National Grid History Cont’d

Interurban third rail train/trolley system Electricity supplied by Stuyvesant Falls hydro- electric power plant. Converted 12,000 volts to a workable 600 volts at the three substations of Hudson, North Chatham and East Greenbush. Generated power to local communities. Covered 37.25 miles of main line track from Albany to Hudson, New York. Technology & Design
